Back-Translation
What is back-translation?
Back-translation is the definitive way to determine whether an interpreter’s work in an interview or courtroom was accurate. It combines foreign language transcription with translation from audio.
1) An audio or video recording is made of an interview or hearing involving an interpreter
2) We transcribe the entire interview - using both English-language and foreign-language transcribers
3) Finally, we translate all parts of the conversation that are not in English.
The result is a document that shows clearly whether the interpreter's rendering of the witness' and interviewer's words was correct. If required, we certify the final document so that it can be used in court.
